How a record is kept

The chip

An NTAG 424 DNA chip in the work and a card in its box. Each tap produces a one-time cryptographic signature with a counter. Five checks run on every tap: chip known · chip in good standing · signature and serial · fresh counter · the chip belongs to this record. The page shows each one, passed or failed.

The ledger

Append-only. Every entry is chained to the one before it by its hash; corrections are added, never overwritten. The record's genesis hash is its fingerprint, printed on the paper and shown on the page.

The paper

A Certificate of Authenticity that names the work, the artist and the Registrar — never an owner. Signed by the artist and the studio; sealed, not signed, by the Registrar. Behind it, the Provenance Record — custody, exhibitions, the public timeline and the Registrar’s notices — with ruled custody lines until the first custodian is recorded.

The custody

Ownership is recorded, not displayed. A sale is recorded at the booth or by the collector's own tap at home; the custodian decides whether to be shown.

The Registrar's charter

  1. 01A certificate names the work, the artist and the Registrar — never an owner.
  2. 02The record is append-only. Corrections are added; history is never rewritten.
  3. 03The House's seal stands first on every piece; the Registrar's line stands below it.
  4. 04English on every piece of paper, for every fair and every collector.
  5. 05The Registrar is the referee on a House's page — never the merchant. No prices, no offers, no other House's name.
  6. 06A House's collectors belong to the House. The Registry never writes to them.
  7. 07GUZZI ART's own works are registered here as one House among the others.
